1. Tell us about yourself:
I’m a high school senior who is actually a bit of a geek, you could call me an academic. I have an intense passion in acquiring knowledge, reading, and philosophy. I’m a very opinionated but also a very open minded person who is open to all kinds of new experiences. You could call me a ‘yes-man’.
2. Your top 3 fashion influences:
Christian Dior, So Young Kang, and Calvin Klein.
3. Favorite life quote:
My favorite quote is actually a couple of lines of a poem by Mary Oliver:
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
4. In becoming a HLH author, what do you plan on achieving?
Through being an HLH writer, I hope to gain a better understanding of myself. I hope to develop a consistency in my opinions, and become better at expressing them.
5. Your life inspirations?
My most influential life inspiration is most definitely Friedrich Nietzsche. Learning about his philosophy has definitely changed my veiws on life, although not neccessarily in his direction. He is to me, what Schopenhauer was to him.
6. Your life dreams?
For a long time, my life goal was to become a lawyer. However, after a summer of being disillusioned with life, I soon realized that all I really want to do with my life is become a person who loves what they do while at the same time leaving a significant mark on the planet. A long semester of studying forensics, rhetoric and philosophy helped me decide what I really want to do with my life. Essentially, I want to be a scholar. More specifically, I would love to be a professor at a university in the philosophy or political science department, and dedicate most of my energy to writing in scholarly journals. I aspire to be the next Karl Marx, Martin Heidegger, or Noam Chomsky.
