Tsunami Body

My heart goes out to all the people in Japan. Yesterday a massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit the Pacific Ocean nearby Northeastern Japan causing damage with blackouts, fire and tsunami. The large earthquake triggered a 10-meter (33-foot) tsunami that swept away everything in its path, including houses, ships, cars and farm buildings on fire. The tsunami warning is still effective for countries all around the Pacific ocean.

I came across a couple of powerful photos that showcase the mass destruction in Japan. Photos courtesy of likeithateitshareit.com

Japan being an island city is no newcomer to water related natural disasters. The symbol of the water is highly prevalent in the culture, such as the famous print by Katsushika Hokusai, entitled “The Great Wave of Kanagawa”. Today the print is duplicated on every type of apparel and object imaginable. Most interestingly, aspects of hurricanes, particularly the Japanese water motif is imprinted, tattooed, and accessorized on the body.

What does it mean to have motifs of nature – natural destruction imprinted on your body. How does this alter the relationship between humans and natural disasters.

  1. I am really thankful to the holder of this website who has shared this enormous post at at this time.

  2. Hello, I do believe your web site could possibly be having
web browser compatibility problems. When I take
a look at your website in Safari, it looks fine however, if opening in I.

E., it’s got some overlapping issues. I simply wanted to give you a quick heads up! Aside from that, excellent blog!

  3. I think everything posted made a ton of sense.
But, what about this? suppose you were to create
a killer headline? I am not saying your content is not solid.
, but suppose you added something that makes people desire
more? I mean Tsunami Body is a little vanilla. You might peek at
Yahoo’s home page and watch how they create post titles to get people to click. You might add a related video or a related picture or two to grab readers excited about everything’ve got to say.
In my opinion, it would bring your posts a little bit more interesting.
