box of contradictions

Its been a while…

“Do I contradict myself?
Very well, then I contradict myself.
I am large.
I contain multitudes.”
– Walt Whitman

In order to thrive, wholeness has to be the priority – not political correctness, or likeability, or protecting your mother’s feelings. But what if your preferences and the various parts of yourself are seemingly in conflict?

It’s good – it’s all good if it’s all real. It is infinitely more empowering, not to mention more interesting, to be full of contradictions than to accommodate the status quo.

The basis of authenticity is acceptance of your whole self. Wholeness demands that we expand – our perspective, our definition of success, and our belief in what’s possible.

Am I a hypocrite or a contradiction, or both? aren’t we all. John says hypocrisy is when we pretend to have certain beliefs and values when we don’t really have them. Then, with hypocrisy we are lying I suppose.

A living contradiction, however, he says is about the truth. Finding a way to live true to what we believe — both personally and professionally.

I need to reflect, plan, act and evaluate. I am a living contradiction, and I’m okay with that, as long as I do something about it.

What are you doing right now that shows you are a living contradiction? What are you going to do to make a change to bring your actions in line with your ideals and beliefs?

I will change this now, while I’m still in the tone-setting-habit-building infancy of summer.
