Wonderful Copenhagen

I don’t know too much about Copenhagen, but looking at these photographs makes me want to fly out there tomorrow. A couple of weeks ago I found a stranded blog made by two exchange students who were temporarily residing in Copenhagen, and thought I would share some of their beautiful photography here. I couldn’t believe how dream like these photos were, their pink and violet saturated tones, air of vibrancy and delicacy, and voyeur like views transport you back in time. The thought of Denmark, with its age-old architecture, cobble stones terrace, and water views must be a sight to see!

Since I’m on the topic, here are some interesting facts about Copenhagen for those who are on the same boat as me:

1. Biking is a way of life in Copenhagen, they have the best designated bike lanes in the world. 36% of all the citizens commute to work by bicycle, they cycle a combined 1.2 million km every day. Copenhagen has 2,000 free bicycles for visitors called the ‘City Bikes’.

2. Copenhagen is the world’s second most environmentally friendly city.

3. Copenhagen has the most interesting marriage of old and modern architecture.

4. Denmark has an international work force with language skills varying from 80% English, 53% German, 25% Swedish, and 10% French.

5. The transport infrastructure of Copenhagen is among the most efficient and reliable systems in the world.

6. Copenhagen has the longest pedestrian street in Europe, known as Strøget.

7. The Danish monarchy is the oldest in the world, and the royal family lives in Copenhagen.

8. The Copenhagen Harbor water is so clean that you can swim in it.

9. As of 2010, Copenhagen is ranked as the 10th most expensive city in the world according to Forbes magazine.

10. The statue of Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘Little Mermaid’ near the harbour is the most famous landmark of Copenhagen.
