“Having reflected upon the faults of a self-centered way of thinking and life, and also having reflected upon the positive consequences of being mindful of the will-being of other sentient beings and working for their benefit, and being convinced of this, then in Buddhist meditation there is a special training which is known as ‘The practice of Giving and Taking’. Using visualization, it basically involves taking upon yourself all the suffering pain, negativity and undesirable experiences of other sentient beings.”
