“Asian American Artist Showcase” at 2020 Colorado Dragon Film Festival

Since December of 2019 I have been working with the Dragon 5280 team to curate the first annual “Asian American Artist Showcase” for the Colorado Dragon Film Festival in collaboration with Denver Film Society for exhibition at the SIE Film Center. It was a few months in the working but the exhibition turned out wonderful. I was so grateful and honored to get the opportunity to work with some amazing Asian artists whom I personally admire. The exhibition started on February 19th and is currently up until end of film festival on Sunday, February 23rd.

The “Asian American Artist Showcase” is a fine art exhibition that features a diverse selection of 15 original works by established Colorado artists Homare Ikeda, Yuki Horikawa, Tsogo Mijid, and Mamiko Ikeda. The group exhibition offers a celebration of culture, diversity and outstanding artistry by Asian American artists.

The Film Festival’s Opening Reception was on Thursday, February 20, 2020 with artists in attendance.

The Opening night film was “The Wandering Chef“, an award winning South Korean documentary. The film was one of the most heart wrenching emotive films I have seen recently. In watching, I was reminded of the precious bond and value of familial love, the meaning of life and beauty of artistic self expression. It was a suitable opening night film choice to depict Asian culture and mannerism, especially with Lunar New Years around the corner.
