Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) presents a group exhibition and panel discussion featuring artists from the collective Pink Progression. “In Skin” is curated and organized by Irene Delka McCray, Kim Putnam, and Tya Anthony. This show by fifteen figurative artists takes a close look at not only what skin looks like, but what it represents culturally and emotionally.
The exhibition will take place in the Philip J. Steele Gallery on RMCAD’s campus, and it will run from October 21 – November 18, 2021. “In Skin” will be exhibited in conjunction with the virtual panel discussion on November 4, 2021 from 6-7 pm.
The artists in this exhibit, Pink Progression: In Skin, ask viewers to take a look at assumptions we may harbor about what skin means to us personally and how we view those who look different from ourselves. Here we may consider the dignity of humans in a bright new light. If we can really see the marvelous subtleties of the skin in which our humanity is contained, with its ability to express the mystery of human emotion, perhaps then we can also share our mutual appreciation at the ability of our own skin to mend, to grow, and to express ourselves.
