I was an artist in residence at Fountainhead through the month of October: Our stories Unite Us alongside two other artists Jessica Alazraki and Leasho Johnson. I had an enriching time at Fountainhead, the residency had such robust programming and I got to immersive into the Miami art scene for the time I was there from famous art institutions and museums to gallery openings and curator talks. I learned so much and reflect back with everlasting memories. Fountainhead was one of the best artist residency programs I have attended in the US so far, especially after having survived what was a nightmare unsafe experience at Pocoapoco artist residency in Oaxaca, Mexico earlier in July. Fountainhead is rich with studio visits, artists truly get an opportunity to get feedback abour thier work and make connections with local industry folks. The residency succeeds in offering artists an all encompassing view of the Miami arts industry.
Outside the programming, I really enjoyed getting to know my fellow resident artists and getting to connect with Kathryn and Dan Mikesell, founders of the program who lived right across the residency house. Fountainhead remains a family in every sense of the word; they truly go above and beyond to take care of their artists, to make them feel special and tend to their needs. They personalized our monthly programming to fit the needs of our particular group, I loved that they took our interests into consideration.
Our group was very productive, aside from the programming outings we worked in our studio daily leading up to Open Studios on Friday, October 21st. Open studios went well, I got to show a new batch of mixed media body print drawings that I started at the residency.

Fountainhead was an amazing time and I look forward to being back. Thank you Fountainhead staff and to Kathryn and Dan Mikesell for all that you do to help support and uplift artists!
Sharing some highlight museum and art hopping clips from Miami, a memorable one being “Parsing the Ocean Veil” which was a performance at DVCAI linking ocean pollution to climate change created by collaborating artists Kim Yantis, Lucinda Linderman and Dito Sudito.
