BBQ activates different cultural Asian American boroughs throughout NYC by way of site specific, time and spiritual theme based series of live performances.

In each NYC AAPI cultural community, BBQ will embody the identities of different spiritual and mythological Asian deities, Gods and folk heroes of relevance and reverence through a combination of transdisciplinary healing modalities such as hand made spirit masks, fleshmask (painted face), costumery, ritual, spiritual paraphernalia, natural artifacts and a traveling nomadic mobile vessel called “Mother Yurt”.

YELLOWTERROR x NYC Performance Series: April 2024 JAPAN🇯🇵 “Cherry Blossom Kabuki Mask” Face Painting Performance Location: Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Hanami Nights (Cherry walk & Cherry esplanade) Kabuki is a Japanese traditional theatre form originating in the Edo period in seventeenth century with rich blend of music, dance, mime, staging and costuming. In celebration of cherry blossom season, BBQ pays tribute to Kabuki theatre by painting their face in an ornate Sujiguma (hero character) inspired makeup design dressed in Japanese Harajuku street style fashion featuring handmade “energy protection spirit hat”. BBQ ends the performance by printing their face design on paper.
