LOOP Art Critique Metaverse Residency

In September 2025, I was selected for ▒▒▒dreamRAM▒▒▒::newfangled verses, an experimental art critique and residency hosted by Loop Art Critique inside the Onland spatial web metaverse. The program ran from September 8 through November 23, 2025, with critique sessions held twice weekly inside the virtual Critique Club. Throughout the residency, artists got to share and learn about each others works.

The residency focuses on expanding artistic practice beyond 2D formats into three- and multi-dimensional, interactive environments designed for the spatial web. We were encouraged to work with dimensionality, immersion and connectivity using tools like as Three.js, Blender, Stable Diffusion, DreamGaussian, Hydra and AI-assisted workflows to create spatial environments.

The artists made wild and wonderful spaces, sure to inspire and provide glimpses into the future of digital environments. I utilized the residency to build my own custom metaverse world/digital storefront for BBQ (Bounce Back Qween) where visitors are invited to explore and interact with mutable digital architectures and the ability to shop/purchase actual merch items.

The critiques and sessions were led by Joey Zaza, Ariel Baron-Robbins, Cha and Carolina Kleine Samson of Loop. As resident artists, we worked remotely within a shared live metaverse environment with real time navigation of each other’s spatial works in a collaborative salon. The metaverse format emphasized sustained engagement through long form critique, iterative feedback and collective problem solving across time zones and geographies with emphasis on shared learning, process transparency and constructive dialogue.

The residency will culminate in ▒▒▒dreamRAM▒▒▒::newfangled verses, the Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art’s fourteenth public exhibition in December, presenting artworks developed during the three month program.

▒▒▒dreamRAM▒▒▒::newfangled verses operates on unstable ground. Objects are not fixed. Environments shift. Systems reveal their seams. Artists work inside broken interfaces, compression artifacts, feedback loops, and executable worlds.

The exhibition rejects flat logic in favor of layered, responsive, and self-reflexive structures—spaces that mutate as they are experienced. This is not a presentation of finished objects, but of processes in motion. The work exists across fractured files, spatial protocols, and collaborative infrastructures. Each verse feeds the next. The loop remains open.

Resident artists were also offered the opportunity to mint spatial works into mowna’s objkt Gallery, extending the life of these environments through blockchain based preservation.

No object is stable. Artists work with shifting ground. Everything breaks. Verses exist beneath what is seen. Artists leave behind 2D logic. This is the post-flat plane of creation. Artists work inside the ruins. What do you build when everything is failing? Newfangled as soft revolution. Spatial forms that melt, regenerate, and mutate as they’re experienced. Layers. Raw states. Editable architecture. Artists design systems that look back—procedures with self-awareness. Every verse builds the next. Every output is a mirror, a map, a misread instruction, fed back into the Loop. Compression ghosts, visual noise, feedback tails, this is the residue of systems. Artists sculpt with it. Each artistic choice fractures into infinite dimensions. Artists exist in multiple spaces at once. Reality exists in collapsed folders, fractured .glbs, ghosted UIs. This world is executable.
