Practicing Random Acts of Kindness

For a long time I’ve been meaning to start a Random Acts of Kindness (R.A.K) thread and what better day to start than today. The act of kindness, and particularly practicing kindness, whether small or big, is an essential step in cultivating positive affirmation and bringing awareness to our surroundings. Indeed, random acts of kindness makes the world go round. Kindness can be done spontaneously in the moment when your heartstrings pull at you, but it would be better if it came with an intention. A random act of kindness can just be done with the body. But, to be truly balanced and bring awareness to each part of you, it requires you to consult the awareness of heart, mind, body and soul. In memorandum to my good momentum lately, I plan on posting a R.A.K idea each day following the Daily Wisdom from the Dalai Lama. I hope the ideas will offer HLH readers positive affirmation to practice an act of kindness the following day.

Kindness is contagious – and as part of our personal social responsibility as a sentient being of the universe, it is important to carry out random acts of kindness on a daily basis. It is truly a win/win situation. The person you are being kind to benefits through your help and in turn you feel good for having helped someone, and it is important to carry out acts of kindness without expecting anything back. The world is a better place through your kindness.

Never underestimate the impact of a single act of kindness. I still remember, after many years, the time someone stopped and helped open the door for me when my hands were full, and since then, I stopped to open the door for people whenever I can. So, before you do an act of kindness, take a moment to formulate an intention to engage every part of you. Bring awareness to your heart and transcend.

An Invitation

I hope you find balance today by doing an act of kindness with intention, let’s treat ourselves and others with kindness today!
