I dedicate this post in celebration to the birth of my new-born second baby cousin today! Welcome to the world little warrior, many beautiful and strange wonders await you!
5. Kindness to others is only possible if we are kind to ourself first. After all, we owe it to ourself for the intrinsic value of being born a human and as a form of equanimity, to adorn ourselves with sugar, spice, and everything nice once in a blue moon. So plan on treating yourself to a hearty breakfast tomorrow!
And lets take time to become more self-aware this week and to use the learning to be kinder to ourself (remembering that we all have weaknesses) and to others. In this way, our inner angst is being dealt with rather than fueling our need to project the hurt and pain. Lets remember to slow down and to forgive ourself when things don’t work out as wished. Lets learn from our mistakes rather than beating oneself over them, or comparing ourself to others. It is through self-compassionate responses that we can start to see other people’s needs in a compassionate light!
(thank you Mark for reminding me to be kinder to myself)
