“Drawing tears like daggers in a river of pain”

Berlin based illustrator Melissa Murillo must never sleep. She creates what I can best describe as ‘perfect’ drawings with black and gold ink. Inspired by the likes of Art Nouveau, Murillo’s works explore the world within a world full of constellations and utopias built up in a tree like fashion. Elements of hair, vine and floral patterns seem to pile on top of and around one anther in an always uniform, borderline obsessive manner. But I am in complete awe of her veracious detailing, what things artists can do…
