As the world and our communities start to slowly open up, we see ourselves reconnecting with friends, family, and community. Gathering with old friends and finally connecting with the ones we’ve only seen through a screen.
Union Hall and Denver Film are excited to provide space for an afternoon of reconnection as we screen four back-to-back short films from members of the Undocumented Filmmakers Collective, and provide an opportunity for guests to connect with the filmmakers.
The event will feature “Nuestro South Refried: ‘No Mexicans’ Arkansas, 1949” directed by Dorian Aidee Gomez Pestaña, “Rakim’s Secret” directed by Frisly Soberanis, “WHAT THE PIER GAVE US” directed by Luna x Moya, and “35” directed by Rahi Hasan.
ABOUT UFC
The Undocumented Filmmakers Collective (UFC) envisions a filmmaking landscape where undocumented people have the autonomy to tell our own stories for ourselves by having access to sustainable careers, pipelines, and resources to thrive as artists and storytellers. We center the sensibilities of undocumented audiences and produce stories that speak to our intersectional experiences, whether or not they are about immigration.
Congratulations on Midwest debut and wonderful partnership dearest UFC family! I have been part of UFC since 2019 usually interacting with our cohort virtually through the pandemic. How exciting that they are finally trekking to Denver, home of our beloved Denver Film Festival. I cant wait to see their award winning films and to hear from the talented filmmakers in person – each amazing artists, make sure to check our their work. 🤍
